Skilled Trades Summer Camp
This 2-week summer day camp in Jackson, MI, offered by Jackson Area Manufacturers Association and it's sponsors, gives young people entering 7th-9th grades the opportunity to explore careers in skilled trades.

Hosted at Jackson Area Career Center, campers get hands on experience with state of the art equipment. They'll also engage with industry professionals and tour manufacturing facilities in the local area.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend Machining U? Students must be entering 7th-9th grade the upcoming school year in order to attend Machining U. They must also apply before the final deadline.
What are the days & times of Machining U? Machining U runs Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm for two weeks. We release at 3pm on the final day of camp.
Are there scholarships available? Money should never hold you back from applying! We offer partial and full scholarships for campers who need it. You'll be prompted to indicate during the application process.
Do you have a process for administering my child's medication? Yes, we will take note of any medication information during the application process. In most situations, each camper will be responsible for administering their own medication throughout camp, but we will remind them and be present as necessary.
My child has attended before, do I get a discount? Yes, we offer $20 off per camper who has attended before. This can be used in addition to the $50 off you'll receive if you apply & pay by the early bird deadline.
Who hosts Machining U? The Jackson Area Manufacturers Association has been hosting Machining U since 2007! The camp is made possible by our manufacturing sponsors, and we host the camp at the Jackson Area Career Center so campers have access to state of the art equipment.
