Customized Training
The AMC offers assessments for companies to determine employee skills for pre-employment.
The Academy for Manufacturing Careers (AMC), a program of the Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA), certified as a Registered Apprenticeship Program by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (USDOL-OA). Mission
To contribute to the success of manufacturing by offering relevant and cost-effective training.
Training Purpose
To provide employees and potential employees of manufacturing firms with the skills necessary to be productive, highly skilled workers and to earn certification in their chosen field.
Learning Method
Instructor-led, using a blended learning approach, with heavy emphasis on hands-on application theory through “labs” whenever possible and applicable.
Pricing
Most course fees are based upon the number of contact hours per course. Course fees include books and course materials.
Flexible Scheduling & Delivery
Courses can be offered on-site with flexible class times!
Flexible Elective
Companies have the ability to require additional offered courses for their apprenticeship trainees.
Flexibility in Training Providers
Additional training, either integrated directly into specific courses or as add-on special projects, labs, etc. Such training must be done within the context of the overall apprenticeship program.
Compressed Training Time
Courses are offered over a shortened period of time. Training will be provided in a manner that covers the material thoroughly in a condensed a time period, if possible, for each course.
College Credit
Associate Degrees aligned to AMC courses are available, just ask us for details or click the links below!
Manufacturer Oversight
Direct, ongoing involvement by manufacturers in the program is critical to its success and continued relevance to industry’s changing needs. A Manufacturers Board of Review works with training providers on program changes/notifications/additions to keep the program relevant to the needs of the manufacturers.
In short, our goal is to provide access to whatever training is needed by our area manufacturers and their employees. Whether we do that ourselves, broker the training through a partner organization or bring in resources from outside our community, we can and will get it done!
